I've refined a series of videos from my mounds of footage and I'm pleased with the turn out. I loved your metaphor for the ax and marketing tools. You're right. If speakers don't provide you with the tools you need, how can you possibly convince anyone to hire them? I wish everyone had respect for others' time. For three years I was the co-chair for the parents' committee at my youngest daughter's school and I was charged with the task of starting the meeting. We would have parents attending that came on time because they had to leave for work or pick up other children and regardless of whether it was two people or 12 I would also say, "Okay, let's get started." If one of the administrators was around they'd override me and opt to wait a few more minutes. I despise waiting a few more minutes when I arrive on time and if I happen to arrive late I do not want to be brought up to speed because I even see it as disrespectful for those who were already there. We should print out this post and hand it out at every meeting, conference or event... it could be a worldwide movement on respect and timeliness. :-D I love this post! I can certainly see it from Rick's point of view. Considering when people send in their resume, their e-mail address does get some scrutiny. I must say: Imsexy@yahoo.com will get SOME attention and usually not the right one. Overall, it may not make a difference, but whether it's yahoo, netflix or yomama, ALWAYS use the professional "credible" approach if you want to be seriously considered on the professional end of the job market.
